NAPT and ReaXium on School Safety
As members of NAPT (National Association for Pupil Transportation), our team had the opportunity to see Dr. Jaclyn Schildkraut speak about the recent incidents in Parkland, Florida. A published national researcher in mass shootings, Dr. Schildkraut provided us with her insight on security and prevention.
One of the issues discussed was the lack of communication to parents and faculty. As students left the campus whether by bus, parent, or walking, it was difficult to identify who was or was not still at the school. A full attendance of the students was not completed until the next morning and left many families worried which children were missing. Response time is critical as events unfold and unfortunately, many families were left not knowing what exactly happened.
As advocates of safety, ReaXium has been constantly adapting and evolving our platform to provide solutions in schools. Real-time attendance updates and statuses for checking-in and out are the foundation of the platform, we asked city officials of South Florida what else could be integrated.
As such, our solution includes a roster of students on buses when traveling from home and school, report generation for attendance which is important in emergencies, and authenticating students and faculty. See some of the functions here.
While ReaXium is unable to resolve every incident that occurs, providing multiple levels of solutions is our goal. Being a company located in Boca Raton, Florida, a community not far from Parkland, this tragedy still resonates with us, and has placed an even greater importance on safety.
