School Bus Crash - rare but possible
Fatal school bus accidents are rare. In fact, buses traveling thousands of miles and hours throughout the school year have a great track record for keeping students safe. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the American School Bus Council (ASBC) have teamed up to help develop and share more resources about school bus safety. In particular, they stress that students are 70 times more likely to make it to school safely if they are on a school bus.
However, this isn’t to say that accidents are unheard of. Last Friday, more than a dozen kids were hurt in a bus crash near our offices in South Florida. These kids were on their way to a camp trip when the crash occurred. Families were meant to contact one officer from the scene for “reunification information”.
Accidents may be rare, but all traffic is still at risk daily. With ReaXium School Bus, everyone can stay connected and up-to-date with the status of their bus and passengers. In the event of an emergency like this crash, officials would have had an accurate, real-time roster of everyone onboard the damaged bus. Families and supervisors would have been contacted promptly to ensure the safety of these campers, the drivers, and traffic obstructed by this accident.
